Attack of the Schoolgirl zombies a.k.a Stacy

If you know even the slightest bit about Japan then you will know of their weird desire for schoolgirls. They see schoolgirls as sexy and while it’s illegal to photograph anyone under the age of consent nude they can stretch that legal line so that it is very slim and taut – much like the young schoolgirls themselves.

Stacy

Because of this admiration of schoolgirls you can find them showing up pretty much everywhere. They advertise various goods and services and they star in movies. That includes making them zombies.

Scene 1 is a lovely little scene. 3 boys are gathered around their dead young female friend pondering when she might come back to life. 1 little guy with all the answers knows that she won’t come back until she has become a grown up and you don’t become a grown up until you are 20. They opine that she is only 14 so she has a while to go yet.

Technically, the movie was originally entitled STACY, then it became Stacy: Attack of the Schoolgirl Zombies and other times simply Attack of the Schoolgirl Zombies. The title matters not for the content is all the same.

So what happens is girls between the ages of 14 and 17 are dying or rather they are going into a state referred to as “Near Death Happiness” which means they have become zombies. Whether they are Japanese or North American zombies, whether they are schoolgirls or middle age all zombie have the same desires. They must ear human flesh and sometimes the brains.

Initially no one is certain why these girls are dying . . . that is becoming zombies or rather experiencing near death happiness – whatever you call it no one can figure out exactly why this is happening.

When a girl does become a zombie they must be disposed of and legally that task can only be done by her family or the humorously named “Romero Re-kill Special Unit”. Named after George Romero, the grand daddy of the zombie modern zombie movie, these units drive around the countryside in large vans and when they come across these girls, a group of 5 guys open up with machine guns and slaughter the poor zombie. Nobody knows just how many shots it takes to kill a zombie so after the first flood of bullets the Romero squad has to be careful. If the zombie moves then they tear her apart with another round of bullets. When I say tear her apart I mean tear her apart as in her body gets chopped into pieces.

So when the Romero squads have finished re-killing the girls it is also their job to dispose of the body pieces. So the squad has these plastics into which to put the bodies. Pretty gruesome stuff, if you stop and think about it.

A brief but somewhat interesting history of the zombies and how their appearance has wreaked havoc around the world. That is one of those things you are best off discovering for yourself.

Oddly, there is a television commercial within the movie for the “Blues Campbell Right Hand” chainsaw. That was odd enough with its reference to Bruce Campbell and all the decorator colors of the chainsaw but most particularly odd was the Japanese woman in the commercial who was wear a rabbit head with long ears. I’m not sure why and don’t think I will ever know why.

There is this comedic mad scientist who looks alarmingly like Charles Bronson for a Japanese guy. Not that Bronson ever played a mad scientist comedic or not.

Should you watch Attack of the Schoolgirl Zombies? Maybe if you have a fetish for Japanese schoolgirls sure. If you are a fan of zombie movies then certainly. Did I happen to mention it’s a gore festival? No, well it is and if you like gore then this is a movie for you.

Eww I should stop eating things raw

Personally, I had a lot of fun watching this tongue in cheek zombie gore – fest and so will you. If you are expecting high art or something totally original then find another movie. As for me, I really liked this movie but then I like what the Japanese do with most movies.

Things I like about Japan:

1) Japanese women

2)Japanese food

3) For such a polite society they can make killer movies
